Kofi Kinaata outlines his refusal to accept a $1 million offer to run for office as a political party spokesperson.

Famous Ghanaian musician Kofi Kinaata has declared that he will turn down any offer, even one as generous as $1 million, to support a political party in the next general elections.

Kinaata gave a justification for his choice, stating that he would prefer to be impartial than face the animosity of Ghanaians against artists who support political parties. Kofi Kinaata, the well-known singer of "Things Fall Apart," stated in a recent interview on Nhyira FM that while he is open to singing at political events if formally invited and contracted, he has no interest in writing a campaign song for any political party.

He stated that entertaining people is his only goal, not endorsing political candidates. When the host asked Kinaata if a $1 million offer would make him change his mind, he paused. He voiced his worries about the possible public backlash and how it would harm his career. Actually, it's not that horrible, but Ghanaians still don't get it. They must realize that the stage utilized for rallies was built by carpenters, electricians, and even DJs. The DJs that play at the rallies do so out of a sense of duty rather than necessarily being party members. However, when an artist chooses to perform for his audience, things always turn out differently, and they begin to stigmatize us.

We could write music for political parties if the stigmatization ends. It's also preferable to maintain neutrality when political tensions are high. After the elections, we will all unite to support the winner, whom God should choose," he declared.
